About

Great to meet you.

Matthew Cape, Clinical Social Worker and Therapist, MSW, LCSW-C

Hi, I'm Matthew. There's a version of yourself you've lost touch with, or maybe you're not sure you ever fully found them. Whether anxiety is running the show, grief has settled in without warning, trauma keeps surfacing in ways you can't explain, or you're simply exhausted from carrying too much for too long, you don't have to keep navigating it alone.

I work with adults and adolescents (13+) navigating depression, anxiety, PTSD, ADHD, substance use, life transitions, and questions of identity and self-worth. My practice is LGBTQIA+ affirming and grounded in respect for your whole self.

At six years old, I lost my mother, and a therapist sat with me and simply asked how I was doing. That question changed everything. It still does. I'm EMDR-trained and draw from CBT, motivational interviewing, narrative therapy, and other evidence-based approaches. With curiosity, honesty, and tools, we'll make room for your story and what matters to you.

I earned my Master of Social Work at Campbellsville University and am licensed as an LCSW-C in Maryland (license 30234), where I see clients virtually, with weekend appointments available. My experience spans community mental health, substance use treatment, and care for adolescents and adults.
